matkacanyon.net is a visitor guide to Matka Canyon and Lake Matka near Skopje, North Macedonia. It is not operated by, and does not speak for, the City of Skopje, JSP Skopje, EVN Macedonia Elektrani, the Macedonian Orthodox Church or any state body, and it does not sell tickets, tours, boat trips or accommodation.
Information accuracy
We check fares, timetables, distances and visitor information against published official information and date them on each page. Bus times change by day and season, and boat and kayak prices are set on site and can change without notice. Confirm before you travel, and follow the instructions of staff and signs on site.

The canyon includes cliffs, narrow paths above deep water, steep mountain paths and summer heat. You are responsible for judging whether a walk or a paddle suits you, for carrying enough water, and for following the rules of the protected area and the instructions of the people who run boats and kayaks.
